Adult Coaching FAQs

  • I have a passion for working with parents, but am happy to work with anyone who is motivated to invest in themselves.

  • The coaching focuses on whatever part of your life you want to work on. There is no script or preset slate of topics.

  • We start each session by checking in, then decide the topic for the day. I’ll use questions and sometimes creative exercises to both deepen and challenge your perspective on that topic. Each session typically ends with actionable steps for you to take before our next session.

  • Generally speaking, therapy focuses on past experiences and tends to assume that there is a part of your life that needs to be fixed. By contrast, coaching is less interested in what has happened already and focuses instead on where you’re at now and where you want to go.

  • Consultants are typically hired to give their advice and expertise. A consultant is expected to know the solutions to the challenges facing the client. Coaches, on the other hand, work to empower and guide clients toward their own solutions.

  • If you engage in the coaching process with honesty, courage, and dedication, you can expect to develop a clearer understanding of your priorities, the things that are holding you back, your own inner resources, and the life you truly want for yourself. You will learn what it takes to be successful by your own definition.

  • Most coaching sessions are done over the phone. Video calls and in-person meetings, depending on geography, are also an option.

  • We begin with a 3-month commitment, then move to month-to-month. Changes do not happen overnight, and often there is a period of trial and error as new life strategies are devised and tested out.

  • Cost depends on the length of each session and the number of monthly sessions. Please reach out for an estimate.

  • Yes! If we get stuck being too serious it restricts the kind of creative thinking that inspires change. Laughter and play are necessary elements of coaching.
